tRev is not officially supported on Windows XP

There are users who feel compelled to use tRev on XP in spite of our warnings. There are issues with the repetitive launching of Rev from tRev that the Rev IDE doesn't not seem to like. So far, the effort to get to the bottom of XP issues out-weighs the additional sliver of an already small market that we might gain.

I should point out that since day one of tRev's release, we have never offered support for XP nor recommended it. This is not a change in policy, but a continuation of it.

tRev windows in Rev's Windows menu

There are two windows about which you may wonder.

First is the Broker, as he is called. The name shown here is a remnant from the Concept Editor days, but it is tRev's broker component. It works as a small front script in Revolution.

Check or un-check its checkbox when you're in Revolution and you turn ON or OFF all communications with tRev. When it's off, the Broker's front script has been removed.

Then there's trev-rev. It is explained by its caption in the image below.

NOTE: This video was made using Mac OS X. tRev acquits itself well on Vista, but with some temporary limitations: switching back and forth between tRev and Rev using control+r is not working the way we'd like YET. This can be worked around by either clicking back and forth or by keeping tRev visible via its prefs. tRev, although used by some on Windows XP, is not officially supported on that platform as I don't have enough machines to do proper testing on it.
